Shall start off by pondering over our transport system. Reliable sources have stated that 500 BCs from Hougang Depot alone are resigning after receiving their Accident-free bonus mid this month. It is said that AMDEP and SLBP BCs that were planning to resign have done so last month. already. No news about BNDEP, shall ask 1 of the BCs that I know to see what he says.
Anyway, expect lesser buses these days, there are not enough people driving them anyway. Especially on weekends (Frequencies range from 7-20 mins for basic services). 156 is having a frequency of 12-17 mins on a Sunday. Sv 27 is no better, 3 min freq on weekdays, 11-20 mins on Sundays.
Anyway, below is a cutout from My Paper, (06 May 2008). A university graduate was refused a job as a bus captain by SBS Transit. The reason being that he may not work long and soon leave the company. My view: Can't they just employ this person, since he has the motivation to join, why not. Unless SBST is waiting to be slapped with fines from the PTC for not abiding to the 10 mins frequency rule in August. Also, many BCs with DD licenses have left. Thats why you see many Double Deckers in depots, especially on weekends.
Anyway, today was English and Social Studies paper. Left home at 6:48. Took Sv 15 (SBS 2727A) which arrived at 6:53 am to Pasir Ris to get My Paper. The bus arrived at PSR at 7:05. Therefore missing the train. Took the 0708 train.
English was fairly easy. Finished with 5 minutes to spare. The hardest part, was not the questions, it was the tying of papers with a piece of thread, its not a string...
Spent the 1 hour break studying Social Studies outside the General Office. Remembered all the points. Followed behind Ms Chan and Mrs Liang up to the hall. The paper is 1hr 30 mins. Seems like only 30 mins. I used 50 mins to do 3 SBQ. I left 1b blank, did the essay first without the evaluation. Did 1b in around 8 mins, merely finished in time.
After the paper, walked up to the hill to get out by the rear gate. Apparantly, the guards have not opened the gate. While I wanted to go by the front, the guard came and opened the gate for us. I walked to the bus stop, 583K arrived, wanted to avoid this bus by all means, failed today though. Went to Changkat to buy western food for lunch. Took 292 (3714E) to the interchange as it rained. Transferred to Sv 3 (3700U). This scania is one of the best that I have taken, the BC turned and drove the bus swift and fast, a smooth ride home, now thats a good scania.
Anyway, if you have the time, take 933J of Sv 18, this bus has some gearbox problem, the 2nd gear. Go see for yourself bah.
